Happy New Year! I wish you all the best things for this year and I hope you discover a new favourite book. I did not finish my 2023 TBR, I read 15% of both King of Scars and Blood of Olympus but finished neither of them. I was so close to finishing my 2023 TBR. Maybe this year, I'll do it? I have so many books to read on my bookshelf but as always, I don't want to pressure myself too much to read so I made a list, a To Be Read List to be more precise for 2024 with 9 books in total. That's not even a book a month. I tried to mostly put books that I own and need to read. Here is the list with no particular order, hope you enjoy!
Never Ever Getting Back Together - Sophie Gonzales : I read one of Sophie Gonzales' book (Only Mostly Devastated) which was on my 2020 TBR and I absolutely loved it. Since then, she has wrote more books and I never picked them up even though I buy them. Becky Albertalli who is one of my favourite author always recommend Sophie's books so I have no excuse for not reading them. The only book I'm missing from Sophie Gonzales is Perfect on Paper.
Never Ever Getting Back Together is WLW and I'm excited to read it. It seems full of excessive drama and some revenge which I adore. Also, the title is inspired by Taylor Swift's song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which gives me another good reason to read it.
Gwen & Art Are Not In Love - Lex Croucher : I bought this book in the UK and realised after that it was signed (which is a blessing). On my edition of the book, there is a quote from Alice Oseman recommending the book so I had to grab it as Alice Oseman is my favourite author. I know this story is inspired by King Arthur and his wife Guinevere, but it has a twist with LGBTQIA+ representation which, if you know me, I love. The cover really sold me because it is gorgeous. My edition is blue but I decided to put the pink version to match the blog. I never read any book by Lex Croucher so this will be my first.
Tales from the Cafe - Toshikazu Kawaguchi : Last year for Christmas, Solene bought me Before The Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and even though it took me a long time to read it (I savoured it), I really enjoyed my reading. Since then, the author wrote other stories in the same universe (the same special coffee shop). The books are always short which is always a must for me and it's very easy to get transported into the story. The first book was divided into different stories and I am guessing the second one is too so I can read each story individually. The first book nearly made me cry and I cannot wait to go back into this magical universe.
The Borrow A Boyfriend Club - Page Powars : I bought this book the instant it was presented to me. The author described it as similar to Ouran High School Host Club and I love this anime so much. And guess what ? It has LGBTQIA+ representation with a trans main character, what more could I ask for? This book was written for me, I don't care what the author says, it's specifically for me. On the other hand, I had this book for a few months now and still have not read it because I had other books I needed to finish before starting this one. But 2024 will be the year !
Vicious - V. E. Swchab : *insert the meme "oh sh*t, here we go again"* If you are new to this blog, you might not understand but if you read my other TBR List, you will know that this book was on my 2021 TBR (3 YEARS AGO) and as you might guess it... I did not read it at the time (shame on me). However, in my initial 2021 TBR is said that I never read any V. E. Schwab book which is not true anymore. I have read This Savage Song (you can find the collective review of the book here) and I have bought The Invisible Life of Addie Larue and the Darker Shades of Magic trilogy, which I plan on reading at some point in my life. I really loved This Savage Song and I cannot wait to read another V. E. Schwab book. I put Vicious here but if I read any book by this author, it will be a win for me so stay tune !
Circe - Madeline Miller : I was really close to reading this book this year for my Greek Mythology phase but it faded throughout the year and I never got to it. However, with the new release of the EPIC SAGA The Musical in December, this phase might come back.... I wanted to read this book since reading The Song of Achilles by the same author. I only bought the book this year. I think Madeline Miller is an incredible author and I cannot wait to see what she does with the character of Circe. I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology (I even have a tattoo to prove it) but I always forget most of it. My knowledge is mostly from reading Percy Jackson haha. However, I'm always interested in reading more about the subject. Cannot wait to go back into Greek Mythology.........
The Upside of Unrequited - Becky Albertalli : My goal is to read every book written by Becky Albertalli and I'm quite close to doing it (I have read 6/9 books written by her). She is one of my favourite author and it feels weird not to have read all of her books. I think this one is in the Simonverse and I hope there is some cameos. I know nothing about the story so I will go into this book completely blind and I am fine with that. I tried reading this book in June this year but I had so many books to read that I forgot. I never hear any review of this book so I don't even know if it's considered a good book but Becky Albertalli never disappoint and I have faith in her once again !
Caraval - Stephanie Garber : The last book in the Once Upon A Broken Heart trilogy just came out (which is a sequel/prequel to Caraval ?) and I really want to read it. Solene just read it and she loved it. I know you can read the books without having read Caraval however, I really want to read Stephanie Garber's debut novel and see how much her writing improve over the years. I also bought the Caraval trilogy in the UK (The works) for around 15£ which is a bargain. Now, all what's left to do is read the damn book. I have seen a lot of Booktube girlies read this book or the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy so I'm excited !
Greywaren - Maggie Stiefvater : I have read The Raven Cycle series 5 years ago and I was so excited when Maggie Stiefvater announced she was making a trilogy focusing on Ronan (with a little bit of Adam <3). This book came out more than a year ago and I had pre-ordered it because I wanted to know what happened next and yet... I completely forgot about it. However, I really want to finish this trilogy even though it means actually saying goodbye to the characters. I am going to miss them. But it also mean, one series finished, crossed of my long list. From what I know, this book will answer the many questions we have about the Lynch family and have some background. I cannot wait!!!
I have no clue which one I am going to read first honestly. There are other books that I want to read this year like The Naturals series, books for the Collective Review with Solene, The Seven Year Slip ect.... My goal is to shrink the number of books I have bought and not read.
Now is your turn, what books do you want to read this year ?
My personal goal is to finally read Babel this year. And the new Percy Jackson. Appart from that, I just want to read 😌
Honestly? I just want to read this year! Hadn't been able to for half the year in 2023 so now I have many books waiting for me!
